Taiko drums are just cool no matter how you cut 'em, so when we were asked to make a promotional video for Mikuni Japanese Restaurant and Sushi Bar's Sushi Sumo Summer event, we turned up the bass and sliced and folded together a fun project. This event takes place in Denver Colorado and features sushi workshops, sumo wrestling, traditional Japanese music, dancing, origami classes and of course, the rockin taiko drum sessions.

Spot for the Downtown Sacramento Partnership promoting the Friday Night Concerts In the Park summer music series (presented by Budweiser). Shot on July 2, 2010 with The New Humans up on stage and a full crowd in Cesar Chavez Plaza at 10th & J. The entire spot was shot in HD, there is a one minute web edit and shorter :30/:15 spots will air on local TV stations.

Hix Island House, a long-time Kinetic client, was recently awarded the Fodor's Gold Choice for "Best Design Hotels; U.S. properties that boast the most stunning architecture and decor." ... for the second year in a row.

Owner and architect, John Hix, has created one of our favourite places to stay on Vieques Island, Puerto Rico, with minimalist design and a perfect location perched on the hillside of Pilon. Polished concrete sits in contrast to the lush green tropical flora surrounding each of the buildings which somehow hide themselves from view as you bike or hike through the horse paths that criss cross that part of the island. (Karl rode those hills dozens of times to check the sunset behind La Casona.)

The Hix Island House has earned international recognition over the years as its architecture set the bar for environmental harmony long before green hotel design became a mainstream norm. ...much less on the relatively remote Vieques Island. It's been a pleasure to work with a client who comes bundled with precise design principals that guide decisions all the way from the hotel linens and lamp fixtures to the print and online marketing materials.
